Smithies isn't as good as people on the GH claim he is. He looks slow to me

Re: 2024 Round 8 v Sharks: Game Day
The sharks haven’t been good at all here either, just quietly.
If we had anything half resembling a well coached and structured attack instead of a bunch of blokes doing their best we’d be right in this.

Credit to the Sharks. They're beating a 50-50 nsw cup nrl side
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Re: 2024 Round 8 v Sharks: Game Day
We could have the game played solely in the Sharks 20 metres for 80 minutes and we'd lose this.
Utterly awful attack and even worse goal line defence.
We can blame our absentees all we want but we have utterly no structure anywhere.

Smithies is Shaun Fensom 2.0
Re: 2024 Round 8 v Sharks: Game Day
Hudson Young's lucky we've got the problems we do in the edge position, otherwise he should be facing a stint in reggies

51st min Good run Schiller, drops the ball and gets a lucky penalty for a strip.

Yeah it probably goes to say that any Anzac Round jersey should be military uniform inspired, they always look the best.Raidernation wrote:On a positive note, the shirts are great.

Starling absolutely stinks. No deception. No guile. No game awareness. Nothing.

52nd min Chevy Stewart regathers the bomb to the try line, tackled in the air. On report. Timoko, incredible tackle breaks in that set.
The set ends with Hudson Young almost caught on the last, then throws an offload to the Sharks.

Great catch from Stewart there, super lucky to get a penalty from three plays ago...

Huddo has been caught with the ball way too many times.
Very clunky backline movement tonight. Not entirely unexpected.

Re: 2024 Round 8 v Sharks: Game Day
What do Hudson Young and Smithies offer?
Re: 2024 Round 8 v Sharks: Game Day
I'm loathe to go too hard on a young spine player trying to find his feet in firsts, but for a guy who's not particularly quick, agile, or large, Chevy Stewart will need to start bringing skill to the fore quickly. Being brave doesn't make you an NRL fullback.

"Savage too casual there"
