Jared Waerea-Hargreaves to retire

The Sydney Roosters have today announced that 2024 will be vice-captain Jared Waerea-Hargreaves’ final year in the famous Tricolour jersey, and in the NRL.

The inspirational leader of the Sydney Roosters forward pack will contest his 15th season with the Club and his 16th in the NRL this year. Player number 1105, 292 of the 298 games Waerea-Hargreaves has played so far have been with the Roosters and he is currently the fourth most-capped player in the Club’s 116-year history.

3 premiership rings, what an outstanding career. Particularly given the size the bloke too, he’s as lean as they come.

Interesting they have allowed Manu to go to Japan , is the Keary retirement a sudden decision. Manu would be an ideal replacement at 5/8 for them , they could use Kearys millions to pay him.

He gets to play way less games for a huge pay increase (more money per game than the roosters could offer) while living in Japan. Unless they're offering sydney real estate there's no competition there.

They could almost pay Manu what ever he wants.
They will have so much cash freed up

It'll be interesting what the difference is

Manu will play Rugby then come back to the roosters mid season next year for around $500k. They mentioned that on NRL 360. So good $$$ for him next year with the two codes combined

Well that is a boon for him, and realistic, as opposed to a blank cheque trying to match Japanese union per game.

It'll be interesting as PVL said he's not letting that happen previously, this plan was discussed prior to xmas

Fifita stays with Titans after Roosters pull offer

Queensland Origin representative David Fifita will remain with the Titans beyond after 2024 after agreeing to take up his player option with the club for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Fifita had informed the Titans last week that he wouldn't be taking up the option to extend his stay on the Gold Coast – agreeing to a long-term deal to join the Roosters from the start of 2025.

Read more: https://www.nrl.com/news/2024/01/01/202 ... d-details/

The Sydney Roosters have withdrawn their offer to David Fifita.

Despite his management making the initial approach to the Club and Fifita personally informing the Sydney Roosters’ Chairman and Head Coach of his intent to join the Club last Thursday, Fifita has since expressed doubt about his decision.

Consequently, the Club has elected to withdraw its offer with view that it is in the Roosters’ best interests. The Club wishes Fifita all the best.

Fifita needs to have an all day conference with his manager so they can explain what the definition of a decision is lol. Jesus.

Haha @ Rorters of course

The old you cant turn us down, we turn you down thing, would love to of been in nicks office when he was told the news, NO one says no to uncle Nick.

I wonder if mr pongo kicking up a fuss about third parties has spooked the roosters and fafita, for the short term and thats why its fallen over
