The 1980s were the best era for music.

Really? I feel like the 80’s was when the world finally lost it after the 60’s and 70’s.

The 90’s were what happened once the world calmed the farm.
Feel free to call me RickyRicky StickStick if you like. I will also accept Super Fui, King Brad, Kid Dynamite, Chocolate-Thunda... or Brad.

Side question: If you could have any singers voice, who would you have?

I think mine is Michael Hutchence, or Jeff Buckley

James Reyne was the name that instantly came to mind. But that is a question that might take some thinking.

Barkeep, would you rather be a great singer who couldn’t write songs, or a great songwriter who couldn’t sing?

Yeah Fui and Gangers are on it, the singers are under enormous pressure constantly.

I'd say voice I'd take Rob Thomas

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

INXS’s Wembley concert is on now on ABC. Man they were something else.

Them and Nirvana are the two bands I wish I was born earlier to experience in their heyday.

I thought Freddy but I think the pressure to be that good all the time would be huge, you'd always be Under Pressure.

What was everyone’s Spotify Song of the Year? Mine was My Type. Interestingly the first time I heard it was during my Blacklist binge, and I played the tripe out of it ever since.

Also made the top 3% of Dave Matthews Band listeners

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Always great to see a Jeff Buckley fan. I met him very briefly.

I remember seeing his song on Rage one night - eternal life - it blew me away. Then a few months later he toured. So this was back when I pretty much went to a gig every fortnight or so. So I went to see him at the Canberra convention centre, by myself because my friends weren't interested and he put on a fantastic show to a very small crowd. I was front and centre.

I had such a good time, when he announced an extra show in Sydney I convinced my (at the time) girlfriend to go. We rocked up to the Coogee Bay hotel, booked a room and hit the downstairs bar. We were playing a game of pool and this bloke comes over and challenges us. Of course we said and then I quickly realised he was with a small group of guys that included Jeff Buckley. I was starstruck and he saw it. He introduced himself as Jeff's Australian drummer. He took me over and introduced us. I was too starstruck to say anything to him and also wanted to leave him alone because he was clearly a massive introvert.

Anyway we beat the two of them. Nobody recognised him, but as soon as the concert started there were hundreds of young ladies screaming out their love for him ... marry me .. etc... I found it funny when an hour earlier he was casually sitting in the bar.
