2011 Golden Boogs Awards categories



So with the end of the season coming, it's time to think about the Golden Boogs for 2011. This year, the football awards are being determined by the polls for 2011 Highs and Lows, and we are looking to cut the number of the other Golden Boogs forum awards.

So here's a question for you. If we were to have just five Golden Boogs awards, what should they be?

Plus, we're looking for a Master of Ceremonies, so volunteers welcome! In cutting the number of awards, we hope to make the Awards a lot more manageable this year!

they are all good awards. if the reason im picking 5 is to knock the others off i wont.

Yes, it is, as we can't run that many awards. Frankly, we struggle to find anyone to run the awards as it is such a big task to count the votes and then run the ceremony. We need to cut back, or cut them altogether.

i thinm we should make it 10 awards.

GE, to save on counting time - once you have the nominees, is it possible to create a poll for each Award that doesnt actually reveal the results to those other than Admin ?

We might end up with 10, but what we're trying to do is get views on what people think should be the awards.

If it's just 5, make them all positive GE.

ADMINISTRATOR/MOD OF THE YEAR - Combine into 1 to credit the hard work behind this site.
FUNNIEST POSTER (MATT ELLIOT) - Everyone tries to be funny, every day with every post, and the best definitely deserves an award
BEST FOOTBALL BRAIN - And not for just rehashing the game in a long winded way- needs to be for all their original/fresh ideas
BEST THREAD OF THE YEAR - Just think it should be in here.
PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR - Could be good, could be bad.......

It's hard chopping it down to 5, but that's what I reckon.

We'll definitely have Poster of the Year. I suggested five so as to get people really thinking about the most important ones. We'll probably end up with about 10 or so.

I don't think we can do that, unless we set up a survey off site or something like that, which could also take a bit of effort.

theres a site called survey monkey which will collect and tally data for you..

i use this site for any research reports i have to do, very good and easy to use. should not take more than half an hour to write out the questions and pm members with the link.

Greeneyed believes The Gospel is not paying attention, as all football awards are being decided by Highs and Lows polls. I think otherwise we'll be limiting any awards that are discouraging.

I know..unfortunately you already dismissed The Gospel's list as not being Gospel, just 1 post ago..

where do you vote?

Once we settle the list, we'll open nominations, and then set up a voting arrangement along the lines Tim suggested. Getting close to finalising the awards list.

Tim would probably know.. but how do you limit a survey site to only taking a persons vote once ? And how would you block it from the public?

Survey Monkey is by invite only.. so it will either be pm'd to interested parties or just put as a url in here.. and you can put a block to limit via ip etc...

i doubt we would see any kind of major rorting... after all its a forum award ceremony

and as a sidenote Survey Monkey free (I'm not paying for it) will only allow 10 questions..

What happened to worst screen name? I thought I was a shoe in for that one!

Why all the big changes?? Nobody cares about what the GH thinks of x loss or y win. The best thing is having a laugh at the the arguments, bad posts, funny calls etc throughout the season

needs more missing in action award.

Two reasons. First, the Boogs is very big to manage, and its difficult to organise a presenter with lots of awards. Second, it is getting a bit like the Academy Awards, the ceremony is way too long, and people aren't able to stay the course of the award ceremony.

Yeah, all year GE's been saying my name was terrible and it deserves a Boogs nomination, and now it's gone. Finally had a chance to be in the running for a Boogs and it's been dashed. For shame I say, for shame!
