Muscle building
A thread to discuss your gym routines, eating tips, diet plans, goals and all things about muscle building.
I'll start,
I'm currently 85kg and plan to get to a lean and shredded 95kg in time for the 2016 pre season for rugby league. I've just started eating like a horse and training very very hard lifting some seriously heavy weights.
I have goals of one day playing in the nrl and I will trial for Mounties at the end of 2016.

Re: Muscle building
Fergo, drop it. Just walk away. You've been told.
Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Seems to work for the horses. Those things are huge.

Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Re: Muscle building
I get these emails. I'll share
Here are StrongLifts 5x5 results I received by email. This guy says he gained 6kg muscle in 10 weeks. My comments are below...
### SUCCESS STORY ###
"Hi Mehdi, I don't know if or when this email will reach you, but I wanted to
send over a huge thank you!! Like most others, I wallowed around trying so many different programs - 60 days, 90 days, 150 days blah blah. The same drill of blasting different body parts, "ripping" myself up with the confusion. I had two issues, one, that I would never be able to sustain the programs for long cos I work long hours and two that I would see results only initialy and then poof nothing.
I'm a skinny guy. Nothing I did would add enough muscle to matter. A friend suggested "try 5x5 strength training, it might work for you!". So I use google, find stronglifts and start your program. Ive been regular for the past 2.5 months now - the results I'm seeing are unbelievable!!
In 2.5 months I have gained nearly 6 kgs of muscle (i.e. about 12 pounds
of muscle). In 2.5 months!!! Ridiculous! I even checked 3 different weighing scales to confirm lol. I took your advice and started with light weights and worked my way up. I feel stronger than ever. its also interesting to see bigger guys in the gym kinda shocked when they see skinny old me piling on the weights hehe. Thanks again - you can be sure I will be sticking to this workout. cant wait to see what it does in a year! Cheers, Rahul"

Amazing job!
You're right, muscle confusion is indeed one of those training principles
that has its place for more advanced lifters, but not for beginners.
Here's why: one, switching exercises all the time never builds the practice
you need to master proper form FAST.
And yet proper form should be THE priority for any guy who is serious
about lifting weights because the better your form, the more you'll be able to lift, all without getting hurt.
But that require practice, which you don't get if you try to confuse your
muscles by changing exercises quicker than underwear
Two, before you can "confuse" a muscle, you *first* need to build it.
And the most effective way to build raw muscle without using drugs is to
get STRONG first. More strength is more muscle.
Which gets us to three - instead of changing the exercise, reps or sets
each workout to "confuse your muscles"...
... keep it simple and just add 2.5kg extra on the bar each workout.
Now your muscles are confused lol.
This is how my StrongLIfts 5x5 workout works. And if you use my apps, it will not only track the exercises, sets and reps you did each time, but also increase the weight by 2.5kg each workout.
Get the apps if you haven't yet, they're free to download with thousands of five star ratings.

Wish I had those apps when I started lifting :-)
Don't make excuses.

Is this now the "third" poster to have vowed to be striving for a Raiders' playing gig in the near future?
Got me thinking, have the previous two posters landed gigs in any of our pathway's teams yet?
