Funny story - when matchmaker first came out, a few of the boys in the workshop and I hooked up too see if we could meet some girls. I remember walking around 1 Friday seeing what everyone was up to, by the time the 3rd lad told me the same story ‘I’m going around to a girls place I met on matchmaker - she’s having a party’ I started getting suspicious.

3 blokes from the same workshop all got invited by the same girl :roflmao

Needless to say they all got embarrassed when I pointed it out and no one went :woot:

I've just been watching a show called Great Continental Railway Journeys. Tonights Ep is in Europe and what caught my eye was this little pissant country between Switzerland and Austria. It's tiny, so I googled it..its Liechtenstein. Only 120 sq miles with a population of 38,000+

So I dug deeper, looked up" the smallest country in the world"

Anyone want to guess ?

Vatican City.. So small it fits inside New Yorks Central Park and has a pop of 800.

There ya go..

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Does anyone remember The Ketchup Song from the early 00's? Did you ever listen to the lyrics and wonder what it was about? The song is actually about a Spanish guy named Diego going into a Club and asking the DJ to play Rapper's Delight.

The Chorus is actually jibberish. It's Diego not understanding English, so just singing what he thinks sounds right. This clip is a good mash up of the two songs to show you what I mean

The football huddle was invented by the Gallaudet school of the deaf's football team. They came up with the huddle to prevent the opposition from seeing their Quarterbacks ASL signs

Today we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the battle of Kapyong.

3rd Bn Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR)
2nd Bn Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry
72nd Heavy Tank Bn (US Army)

All awarded the US Presidential Citation

The battle of Kapyong raged for 4 days during the Korean War. The above 3 units withheld advancing enemy waves for over 72hrs. 3RAR withdrew on 24/4/51..job done.

Today is Kapyong Day.

To all my brothers past and present..we drink.

New Zealand is listed in the Australian Constitution as a state. This was essentially a placeholder if they decided to become part of the Federation.

The story goes that New Zealand was goverened by NSW from 1788 until 1835. In 1890 Australia tried to test the waters and see if NZ were interested in coming back, adding them to the consitution as a way to peusuade them to join. NZ said no, beecause it would be a breach of the Treaty of Waitangi.

Definition of State in the Constitution
The Constitution wrote:The States shall mean such of the colonies of New South Wales, New Zealand, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia, and South Australia, including the northern territory of South Australia, as for the time being are parts of the Commonwealth, and such colonies or territories as may be admitted into or established by the Commonwealth as States; and each of such parts of the Commonwealth shall be called a State.

Interestingly I saw a map in Townsville two days ago where the Northern Territory was part of South Australia.

I think it was one state for a while... I feel like I remember learning that. Either that, or Im confusing it with Centralia, a merger proposal a couple of years back.

I was reading up on proposed new states etc recently. The typical ones came up like splitting Qld, WA etc. One that surprised me was "South Coast" in the 1940's. The border was going to run from Batemans Bay, to Kiandra and down to Sale. Bega was to be the capital.

Judith Love Cohen was an American Space Engineer, who helped create the Abort-Guidance System which rescued the Apollo 13 astronauts. Impressively, she also went to work on the day she was in labor. She took a printout of a problem she was working on to the hospital, and managed to solve it and notify her boss prior to giving birth.

The baby she gave birth to? Actor, lead singer of Tenacious D and author of the greatest and best song in the world, Jack Black

Stand corrected. He played the best song in the world, and wrote the tribute

Not only did his mum do that, but his half-brother is also in science. You know how the GPS on your phone adjusts itself based on the direction your facing? Thank Jacks brother.

It got me thinking, Jack Black also went to a private school for kids who weren’t coping in the typical school system. When you’re in a family of geniuses, I feel the definition of cooing may be skewed

Ok bonus points for a question back at ya... Tenacious D’s song WASN’T the greatest song in the world, but they “played the first thing that came to their heads, just so happened to be, the best song in the world”... what was that song?

The clue is actually in the song.
