This is by far the most lopsided game of the year, by a long way. The other teams are amateur this year... so they’re running a lot of young players, with just a few experienced guys leading them.

Canberra Raiders under-20s claim biggest win in Cup finals history

The young Green Machine claimed the biggest grand final win in Canberra Raiders Cup history on Sunday, thrashing the Bulls 66-10 with a 13-try blitz.

"I think the guys have been building for this throughout the year. This competition for us was about developing these players as individuals, which has been something we really appreciate. It all came together today in terms of what we wanted to do, which was unfortunate for the Bulls.

Positive: Esera, Mooney and Trevilyan look absolutely first grade potential. Also Meads, Clarkson and Kaho were impressive.

Negative: To the point about the Canberra Raiders reserves playing in this comp next year, I hope that they are not intending to run their own side against that opposition because the standard of competition might not be positive for the development of players in the long term. It might only work if we spread our reserve grade players to the existing sides in the conpetition

I would expect so. The Canberra Raiders Cup is one of the strongest local leagues in New South Wales... Newcastle and Illawarra have traditionally been very strong, but the Canberra competition has challenged them in recent years. I would also expect a full competition, with all nine clubs participating, given how things have gone with the 2020 season and COVID. First grade of Canberra Raiders Cup... players work in real jobs, but they also get paid to play.

If the Raiders don't have a "bubble" next year, and they are able to/decide to go the local league route, I'd expect they'd farm the fringe players around the Canberra Raiders Cup clubs. That is what they have usually done with surplus Flegg players in recent years. They wouldn't play a whole team in the Canberra competition. It would be better to find a NSW Cup partner and best of all to run their own NSW Cup club, really.

Don't forget Titiuti, he's a clear step above Walkington-Meads in my view. Titiuti and Clarkson are clear first grade potential for mine.
