ON THIS DAY in 2016, the Canberra Raiders hosted the Sharks in a Week 1 final, in front of 25,592 fans, the third biggest home crowd in Raiders’ history. There was one amazing Viking Clap to welcome the Green Machine to the field. Sadly it was a 16-14 loss for the Raiders and ended up with Michael Ennis performing his own Viking Clap. #NRL #WeAreRaiders

ON THIS DAY in 2010, the Canberra Raiders beat the Panthers, 24-22, in Week 1 of the finals at Penrith. The Raiders fans were so keen to get to the team after they game, they pushed down the fence! here: http://ow.ly/JZ8T50Blv9a
Also ON THIS DAY in 1994, the Raiders lost an epic against the Canterbury Bulldogs, 19-18, at the SFS in front of 41,865 fans. The Raiders would have their revenge two weeks later in the Grand Final!
Also ON THIS DAY in 1990, Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker was born. Happy Birthday Jarrod! It’s a big one! The big 3-0!

That Panthers final was honestly one of the best away games I've been to. Great memories. Fence stood no chance.

I wasn't at that Panthers game, but it was a pretty special moment. The two teams have definitely crossed paths more than most in the finals over the last decade.

ON THIS DAY in 1987, the Canberra Raiders defeated the South Sydney Rabbitohs, 46-12, in Week 2 of the finals at the SCG. Do you know the player in the pic and how many tries he scored on the day?
Souths winger Steve Mavin was peppered by the Raiders with kicks to great effect, and was hooked by coach George Piggins after just 16 minutes. Read more of the story here: http://ow.ly/MDPQ50BlvTO

GE it would be nice if you mixed this up a bit with a few “on this day”s about yourself
“On this day in 86 I got my first car, it was an 82 Mazda 323, blue, which reeked of petrol. Ended up driving it into the lake after the flower festival on this same day in 95”... that sort of thing

Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

ON THIS DAY in 1990, the Canberra Raiders defeated the Brisbane Broncos 32-4 in the Preliminary Final at the SFS in front of 31,628. Two players scored doubles. Do you know who? In an historic achievement, the Raiders were minor premiers and qualified for the Grand Final in all three grades.

Who scored doubles? That's stretching the memory banks.
I'm going to guess it was Belcher and Martin.

ON THIS DAY in 2019, the Canberra Raiders played in their sixth Grand Final at Stadium Australia in front of 82,922 fans. The Sydney Roosters prevailed 14-8, but the match was marred by controversial officiating... which proved costly for the Raiders and produced subsequent rule changes. Raiders five eighth Jack Wighton won the Clive Churchill Medal, judged the best player on the ground. #NRL #WeAreRaiders #SixAgain #6Again #Trainergate
