So a thread full of great sporting achievements and uplifting tales has now become a depressing reminder of how they **** up the final series of GOT. You guys suck.

GOLD Emma McKeon! That's absolutely incredible! 50m free. Three gold medals. One of the best Olympics for Australia ever in the pool, alongside 1956.

GOLD! The women cap off an unbelievable swim meet with gold in the 4 x 100m women’s medley. They beat the Americans by .13 seconds, unbelievably close. Amazing stuff. 12 golds for Australia now, 9 in the pool, 8 by the women.

Four gold medals for McKeon, the first Australian to win four gold medals at one Olympic games. Seven medals at one games.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

How good was the men's hockey shoot out, one on one. So much better than a penalty shoot out.

Very cool!
I like that it's 8 seconds and you get a chance to shot again on a deflection.

Our keeper was outstanding.

India have a population over a billion. No suprises they conjure up 11 players better than we can. Really, they did well to make it this far.

That's not true. Obviously in India, cricket is king, but hockey is very popular and India has proud hockey tradition at the Olympics

No no I'm pretty sure there's only 12 hockey players in India. 7 men and 5 women.

Not you too Boney? I remember 20+ years ago the Indian hockey team running around, a lot of them with turbins (not sure if it was just a popular sport with Sikhs?) And thinking, these guys are pretty good.

Opals through to the finals after winning just one pool game? Seems odd. Lose two games... yeah come on through... flinch on the starters blocks on the track... see you in 3 years buddy.
