Great to see a team developed by a club win a premiership.

Agree. I think it means more to the players who’ve worked their way from juniors through a club to a premiership win.Dr Zaius wrote:Great to see a team developed by a club win a premiership.

Ricky Stuart had the biggest sledging game in the history of rugby league and we loved him for it. Walker did zero after the intercept - maybe Cleary’s words mattered little but maybe they got in Walkers head and shut him down. Winners are grinners!greeneyed wrote: ↑October 3, 2021, 8:59 pmI think they’re mug lairs. The way Cleary mouthed off at Walker after the intercept a case in point. So serious question - why didn’t we do better having Mounties as a feeder club?

I think their group of young players and the development pathways they have, will hold them in good stead for a while.Billy Walker wrote:Good team that Panthers team but not sure this is the start of any sort of dynasty. I think more likely they drop away over the next couple of years.
I see another one or two premierships coming their way.

It’s an Eels junior area. We were never picking up much top line talent from Mounties. And we didn’t. It was a ridiculous arrangement from day one.Billy Walker wrote: ↑October 3, 2021, 9:08 pmSo serious question - why didn’t we do better having Mounties as a feeder club?

Penrith were undefeated between Round 5 and the Grand Final. They lost just one game in the regular season. You are clearly wrong. I thought Moses Liota, Liam Martin and Matt Burton were all slightly better than Nathan Cleary. But hard for them to win the Clive Churchill.
Cleary had a great kicking game all night, but a poor missed tackle on Walker and a few wrong decisions.
Liota was amazing I thought.
Reynolds, Burgess and Walker best for Rabbits.

Did I say that last year was unjust? Melbourne won last year, and were the best team this year. Penrith were the best team last year and won this year. The ledger is square.greeneyed wrote:So last year was unjust, but this year is just? OK. Of course, I’m always clearly wrong on everything.
Honestly, a person that denies that a team that finished top of the table, lost one game all regular season and registered 17 wins in a row wasn't the best team is beyond reasoning with.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Im fascinated about the Walker love
Great try, no question. Their second try he didnt do a whole lot to create anything, just caught and pass
But he blew quite a few moments and Souths didnt get many of them
also, it shouldnt go unstated, he made THE dumb play that decided the game. Sub optimal performance imo

So Penrith wore ski masks to protect themselves from champagne but forgot the champagne. You reckon they do champagne in the Riff?
Re: 2021 Grand Final: Teams and Game Day
Yes you did say that. When you said: “Nor did we last year”. It’s in the quote.Dr Zaius wrote: ↑October 3, 2021, 9:19 pmDid I say that last year was unjust? And then you’re telling me off for suggesting that Penrith wasn’t the best team last year… on the grounds that they won 17 games in a row and finished the top of the ladder.
While also saying that the Panthers are the best team this year when they didn’t finish on top of the ladder and the Storm won 19 in a row.
I’m arguing on the basis of my assessment of the teams and their performances… and taking the circumstances into account. Like the Panthers virtually playing at home all season last year. That doesn’t make me “clearly wrong”.
Your justifications are completely inconsistent.

I don’t think South’s got enough out of Cook tonight. Reynolds and Walker had a good crack with mix results but beyond one fair run I thought Cook was fairly invisible tonight
