AT A GLANCE: The Canberra Raiders Jersey Flegg team suffered another big loss in Round 13, falling to the Cronulla Sharks, 42-8, at Canberra Stadium. The Raiders were the first to cross, through centre Josh Billing, inside the first five minutes. But that would be the home team's only four pointer. The Raiders trailed, 20-8, at the break, with a penalty goal to Sione Vuki right on half time bringing the Green Machine a little closer. But it was all the Sharks in the second half. They scored a total of eight tries.
The Raiders remain in eighth place on the ladder - and now host the fifth placed Panthers at Kippax on Saturday. It is part of a double header, and a warm up for the NSW Cup clash between the clubs. The Panthers are on a three game losing streak, having lost to the Roosters (34-10), Knights (26-12) and Dragons (22-4). Last Friday, the Panthers conceded four tries to the Dragons, and scored their only points in the final minute of the match, though a try to Kristian Li Mai. The Raiders have conceded 40 points or more in the past two weeks - and conceded 64 points against the Panthers when they met at Penrith in Round 7. The Raiders have the worst defensive record in the competition, while only the Bulldogs have scored fewer points. Both teams will no doubt be keen to turn things around this week.

6 mins to half time Good hit causes a Panthers turnover near half way. This will give the Raiders a good shot in attack. They’re held up over the line… and then a loose pass. The Raiders are looking good with the ball though.

AT A GLANCE: The Canberra Raiders Jersey Flegg bounced back against the Panthers on Saturday, producing a 28-18 win at Kippax. The Raiders were beaten 64-16 when they last met the Panthers at Penrith in Round 7. They have also conceded 40 points or more in the past two matches, losses to the Sharks and Eels. The victory songs in the sheds after the win on Saturday were loud and proud.
The Raiders were first to score in the 8th minute through second rower Harry Leadbitter. An intercept by Josh Billing deep in the Raiders' own half set it up, with Billing making a long break down field. In the 21st minute, the Panthers got in on the intercept action, with centre Angelis Hotere-Papalii running 80 metres to score under the posts. That levelled the scores, 6-6, but four minutes later, halfback Thomas Casey put the home side back in front. He ran wide from dummy half, throwing a dummy pass and then stepping back inside to score.
The Raiders added to their tally four minutes into the second half, after the Panthers turned over a bomb near their goal line. Jed Stuart, who made a late switch from centre to wing, was the man who quickly took advantage. Five minutes later, another Penrith error in their own half provided opportunity for the Raiders, with second rower Tane Kiriona getting his own four pointer. The conversion stretched Canberra's lead to 22-6 at the 45 minute mark.
An error from Niu Mariota after the kick off then opened the door for the Panthers. They had three repeat sets in the Raiders' red zone before Zac Lipowicz took a very flat pass and ran into a big hole. That try meant the Panthers had drawn within 10 points with just under 20 minutes remaining. A number of penalties helped Penrith build more momentum, with their fullback William Fakatoumafi finally crossing in the 62nd minute. The sideline conversion from winger Addison Williams saw the Panthers trail by just four points. The Panthers then threw everything they had left at the Raiders, but the home team scrambled. And in the final minute, Sione Moala, who started off the bench, scored the match winner. Sione Vuki's conversion was the cherry on top.
The Raiders remain in eighth place on the ladder - and now host the third placed Knights at Kippax on Saturday. The Knights suffered a 16-12 loss to the Sharks at St Johns Oval in Newcastle on Saturday. The Sharks scored four tries and led 16-0 with just over 10 minutes remaining. The Knights then made a late challenge, with tries to centre James Johnson and benchie Ethan Campbell. The Knights have had recent wins over the Bulldogs (28-22), Panthers (26-12) and Rabbitohs (36-10). They also lost to the Dragons, 8-6, at Wollongong in Round 11.
The Raiders and Knights have similar attacking records, but Newcastle has a much better defensive record. No team has conceded more points than Canberra. Hopefully, the Raiders are now back on track in that department.
The last time the two teams met in this grade was back in 2019. Both teams scored three tries each. The goal kicking of Jarrett Subloo was the difference. Charlie Rorke, Tom Robertson and Subloo were the try scorers for the Green Machine.

Was told on Saturday Caleb Esera is out for the season… shoulder surgery it turns out.
Re: 2022 Canberra Raiders Jersey Flegg
sucks for the big fella, hopefully we see him firing in 23.
Fullback for the knights is a very very handy cricketer, if he concentrated on cricket I think he'd at least play for nsw but the money is in footy.
