English Super League star Will Pryce on Canberra Raiders’ radar
Just read that the Raiders are showing interest in a young Englishman named Will Pryce. Anyone know much about him?
English Super League star Will Pryce on Canberra Raiders’ radar
Canberra has become the first NRL club to reveal an interest in rising English star Will Pryce. Pryce, just 19, plays five-eighth or fullback for Huddersfield Giants. His father Leon is a former Great Britain international. Pryce has two more years remaining on his Huddersfield contract but Canberra would be prepared to pay a transfer fee to secure the young England Knights international. Canberra is planning to take a group of officials and coaches to England on a fact-finding journey during the World Cup to monitor the playing talent.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2022
Skillful lad, not a lot of tough NRL defence on display but the guy is 19, only going to get better... not a bad dart to throw. Looks like he's potentially a very good modern day fullback

Looks big and strong with good speed. Mentions he can play 6 in his bio, definitely looks a quality 1 in that video.

Maybe a long term 6 dart. Start him off with 3 years in fullback and utility roles then shift into the halves.

Apparently we are interested in Will Pryce from the UK, a fullback and five eighth. Will let Mr Posh and others comment on him.

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2022
Right now we have 2 guys vying for the spot... IMO, one hamstrings our team too much with his limited abilities and the other is a young kid who's dynamic and has flashed but is far from a sure thing as a long term option
If we signed Pryce, I don't have to squint very hard to see a future where he's the fullback with Savage and Cotric playing on the wings and CNK at centre
Re: English Super League star Will Pryce on Canberra Raiders’ radar
We are an easy target for recruitment talk surrounding English players.
Although, Rapana is likely in his final season. Doubts must be starting about HSS and his ability to avoid injury.
There may be some concern about Timoko or Savage being poached by the Dolphins.
Can never have too many quality outside backs.
I don't think there's anything in this, but we shouldn't hold out hope that Timoko, X, or HSS will be here for another 5 years...

Re: English Super League star Will Pryce on Canberra Raiders’ radar
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Played about 20 seasons in Super Played every position in the backline, started his career as an outside back. But moved into 5/8 after a few seasons.gergreg wrote:He was a centre wasn't he?RTW wrote:He is the son of Leon Pryce, so from very good stock.

Re: English Super League star Will Pryce on Canberra Raiders’ radar
I saw Leon in a few Tests (on tv). Was a winger from what I remember.
Not too fussed whether we get this guy over or not. A lot depends on Wighton's season this year though. If Jack goes badly and we need to start rethinking his best position, then bringing over a #6 starts to make sense.
Also allows us to clear out Williams and Frawley and run a better upcoming stock of halves.
If Wighton goes well and Savage does what it seems he can- or if CNK is so good he holds Savage out of #1 then I'm not sure we need this guy- unless he's willing to serve a couple of years behind Jack.

If what you’re doing isn’t working then you need to do something different. I don’t know if this kid is any good or not but I also didn’t know how John Bateman would go. Give him a try, if it doesn’t work send him back, if it works great.
Re: English Super League star Will Pryce on Canberra Raiders’ radar
Not seen anything in Hanley that would encourage me - although his stock comes from arguably the greatest player to ever play the game - but the other two look like stone-cold superstars.
I've mentioned Pryce on here before - the one thing that really impressed me was him taking control of a game when he was left as the only play maker, and bringing his team home.
Looks to have all the tools and a great attitude.
Leon Pryce was all class, but seemingly lacked a bit of something, mentally. His brother Karl was was even more stark - a physique and skill-set to rival anybody, but shied away from contact - biggest waste of a player I've ever seen.
Anyway, Pryce has the number 1 jersey at Huddersfield this year, which might indicate they see him as a full back, but he's looked very promising in the halves.
Gannon is a beast. It'll be interesting to see how he copes with the step up to playing alongside men, but I can't see anything that suggests he'll struggle.
There are a whole load more second generation players breaking through. Makes me feel old.
Re: English Super League star Will Pryce on Canberra Raiders’ radar
Hanley wasn't even the best player at the Tigers. He may have been a superstar in England but he isn't fit to polish big Mal's shoes, or any of the other immortals.
