Re: 2023 coaching options
If Craig Bellamy is moving on, you give him whatever he wants and get him to coach the team.
If that fails, Shane Flanaghan.

You don’t employ a bloke who’s been found to have been involved in salary cap cheating or drug cheating. Talk about failure of culture…yeh raiders wrote:If Craig Bellamy is moving on, you give him whatever he wants and get him to coach the team.

GE - you might’ve mentioned already but who would you have to replace Sticky?greeneyed wrote: ↑May 1, 2022, 1:21 amYou don’t employ a bloke who’s been found to have been involved in salary cap cheating or drug cheating. Its not don and the board agreeing to a deal. It is more the matter of ricky if he wants to keep coaching or not, quite simple if he wants to keep coaching he will tell don he wants a new contract and don with agree.
Don and the board have given their powers away to ricky and he knows that.

Re: 2023 coaching options
Hodgson may well be a good coach one day.
I'd rather have him get some actual coaching experience first, for him and the team. Could go all Nathan Brown otherwise, even if he has some aptitude.
That's probably the difference between he and Slater- Slater has some genuine experience in really good set ups.

Re: 2023 coaching options
It’s not my job… I’d hope the club has a full and proper process, when there’s a vacancy, with strong expertise and experience in the coaching game. But if it were my job, I’d be looking very closely at those with experience in the Storm system. So Ryles, Slater, Cronk, Smith. Or Ciraldo. It’d be safer to go with someone who has prior coaching experience.Ilanraiders wrote: ↑May 1, 2022, 4:51 amGE - you might’ve mentioned already but who would you have to replace Sticky?greeneyed wrote: ↑May 1, 2022, 1:21 amYou don’t employ a bloke who’s been found to have been involved in salary cap cheating or drug cheating. Re: 2023 coaching options
I am 100% all for Ricky to go asap...Just a question how many good coaches do you guys think are in the NRL currently? 5? 6?
Re: 2023 coaching options
I agree with many that the Board will not sack Ricky any time soon.
So with that in mind!!!!! I want a Co-Coach system with Bellamy (I know I’m dreaming, but Stuart and him can have a beer after every match), Cronk, Slater or one of the Johns brothers.
Most of those I mentioned can teach passing skills, passing strategy and passing techniques obviously better than anyone in our current coaching setup. I’ve often wondered whether Stuart can’t coach passing because it was a skill that came so naturally to him as a player.

Re: 2023 coaching options
It's 100% that, all the best coaches were pretty average players (and many of them played for the Raiders, the home of pretty average). That's because they likely had a lot less "natural" footy ability and hence had to learn it all so then it's something they can pass on to others.
Re: 2023 coaching options
Whoever is eventually selected to replace Sticky, I hope that Ricky is not put in an oversight role. The new coach deserves a clean run with their own staff and decisions made on recruitment and retention and playing style. As when Sticky joined the Raiders as head coach it will take a few seasons for the new coach to mould the playing squad wanted. I would love to get a Ciraldo who is from a successful Club but as with all coaches there are no guarantees.

Agree with this.greeneyed wrote: ↑April 30, 2022, 6:11 pm You simply do not consider a former head coach who has been done for both drug and salary cap cheating. Why the NRL hasn't rubbed him out of the game is beyond me.
Paul Green. Has been.
I don't trust coaching form from Super League.
We should follow the Sharks example... and looking for fresh coaching talent. Certainly no internal promotion, given what's happening...
I'd also point out that Flannagan's sharks side were pretty much a grind fest team and I'd rather we move away from that style to be honest.

2023 coaching options
That should replace the victor logo for our away jersey's once they finalise the changing of the name to the canberra rickys, and use a smug photo of ricky for the home jersey'sFuifui Bradbrad wrote:-PJ- wrote:It will Ricky Stuart’s job until he don’t want it anymore..right Don ?
