SURVIVOR POLL II: Top ten greatest ever Raiders

Post by greeneyed »

SURVIVOR POLL II: Top ten greatest ever Raiders

Back in 2007, the members of The Greenhouse voted on their top ten greatest ever Canberra Raiders. It was a survivor-style poll... and this was the top ten back then:

Image

Now, after 40 seasons of The Green Machine, we're going to vote again... and we'll see how the list might change. Will players from the modern era of the club be able to force their way in? The starting point will be the top 30 players selected in our poll for the 40 Year Dream Team.

In the first poll, we voted 10 players off the island... and this week we will vote off five. Then we will go one by one to determine the top ten best Raiders players, in order, of all time.

You have FIVE votes in this poll. You may change your vote, but we'll declare the poll at this time next week. Remember, you are voting players OFF the island.

it's certainly getting tough in a hurry!

Noa, Nagas, Jarrod Croker, Hodgson and Rapana are my selections I THINK
Ill have to revisit it in the morning

Jason Croker, Lance, Lazo are the other considerations. Mullins is also an interesting option here. But i dont know that i can do that give how many formative memories of great raiders football involve Mullins

I went Hodgson, Nagas, Nadruku, Rapana, Wighton. Papalii the only modern era player in serious contention for me.

Jarrod Croker over Wighton is interesting, and i think im probably someone who has greater appreciation for Jarrod Croker than most. Thought i neglected to mention him in my other options.. wighton is definitely on the bubble here for me

I'll vote Jarrod Croker off the island next if he is still on the list.

Any early tips for the winner? Meninga, Daley, Stuart and must be tight favourites at this stage of proceedings.. Christ - how do you vote off any of those!

You will have to vote them off until we select No. 1.

I doubt the top five will change and I doubt the order will change. But at some stage you have to choose Meninga over Daley or Daley over Stuart.

It’s all explained in the first post. :)

Jarrod-C, Noa, Nagas, Lance and Rapa for mine.

Lol at Jarrod-C being in there ahead of Chris O'Sullivan.

Yup that's who I was referring to. Simon Woolford is our 5th most capped, Ron Giteau our 6th highest point scorer. Arbitrary numbers that you rack up if you play enough games. Croker is at a 45.5% try scoring ratio so it's not really enough to base an argument on.

If this is the top 10 most experienced Raiders then he surely deserves a spot :thumbsup

Stop talking such sense Roger - people don’t like that kind of logic in these parts. JC has also captained and played in more losses than any other raider in history but we are selective about the records we care about….
