Completely agree. Fittler has managed to win and lose series against some pretty average QLD squads. I'm not sure which says more about his coaching ability.

I don’t know what to make of Papa. He wasnt bad tonight and seemed to play slightly more minutes (maybe 30?), but could you say he played well?
Like, I was willing him to burst back into form and for the old Papa to return; but it just doesn’t seem to be there at the moment.
He isn’t a liability, but the effervescence just seems to have completely disappeared.
33 mins with 12 runs for 90m and 19 tackles. Numbers are OK. Just doesn't look like classic Paps right now.

He’s better with minutes
Might have had 2 tries with effort plays
Imfs
He’s not peak papa but he’s still very good

Well done qld. They just want it more, each year they prove it. Fittler proved tonight he's a woeful coach. Cleary also proved that he's nowhere near Andrew johns in class or ability, when it was time for someone to step up, cleary disappeared and the old fella in cherry Evans and hunt stood up.
When they say New South Wales doesn't get Origin, tonight shows exactly why that is the case. What an incredible game, what an incredible performance from the Maroons, what an amazing Origin series win. One for the ages. One of the best Origin games of all time. Very dominant. Billy Slater, good coach. Out coached Fittler for sure and certain.
Well played Qld on a gutsy win. The Hunt catching of the ball virtually off Cleary's boot was freakish. Then to secure it and see the hooker run that distance for a try even had this old Blue cheering for him. The sheer elation on his face. When Qld applied the pressure a number of the NSW players came up with some very poor decisions and surrendered possession. DCE dominated with his kicking. For NSW I thought Teddy was our best. Congratulations to all the Qlders on the Green House.

He is solid without being great. I think we have seen his best.
I feel like every run of his is at 60%. He isnt hitting the line at his maximum. Maybe its a tactic to prolong his career.

Interesting press conference with Billy Slater, speaking about all players knowing their roles in the team, even with the disruptions with Munster and Murray Tuilagi pulling out, then two off in the first half.
Very much like the Melbourne Storm system - it's the system that works.

We need coaching like that.
Billy just sounds smarter than Fittler
100% better coach than Freddy. Reckon Rick would have got himself confused about a 2 man bench rotation

Exactly what I was thinking. Slater clearly understands what he needs to connect emotionally and tactically. We can even see him nodding his head when CE was talking in the press conference.
Expectations were really clear. Qld on paper are nowhere close to NSW; Slater knowing how to handle end to end coaching was the difference.
Clearly Panthers Incorporated controls who plays for NSW and how. And Clearly will be a great but he isnt a coach just yet.

Just finished watching it. Very impressive. Loved the story about how he knocked on the door of Tom Dearden after the COVID tests on the team, when Munster was ruled out. Dearden says… “I won’t let you down.” He sure didn’t. Fantastic game from the young bloke.

I also liked how Billy answered the question on Papa - saying Qld know their players and they don't listen to outside noise.
Loved hearing that too. I thought Papa was great tonight. Slater should have used him like that in Origin II. You need to show trust in Papa and he’ll deliver.
