Man Guler has surprised me. Not sure who goes out of he and Sutton when Horse is back, I’m leaning towards Sutton given he’s leaving (but is awesome in defence though). Tough pick.
Otherwise same team.
Ideally Whitehead plays reserves, but we know that won’t happen. Just give CHN more game time, although he really added spark so I’m okay with his 30-35 mins. I just think we’re hindering ourselves for the other 45-50

Re: 2022 Rd 20 V Titans: Teams and Previews
We started very slow against the Warriors and cannot afford to do that again. I don't see Sticky making any changes to the line up for this week. EW is under the most pressure. It is a shame Mooney and Rushton are injured. CHN should be in the run on side but EW is the Captain and I don't see Sticky dropping him. We are short of edge forwards and I reckon at least one will need to be purchased for next season. I am impressed by Kris, but I think his future will be in the backrow once HSS returns.

For the life of me I don’t understand why we wouldn’t keep picking Hoppa and Schiller. Neither Raps or Cotric are finding new heights in their game. Schiller and Hoppa could be very good.

Whitehead was atrocious, was like an old man running back and trying to get in the defensive line. He’s so unfit. Watch him tackle too - doesn’t have any sting at all

Raps has an error or two in him but an X factor for sure. I think Cotric takes the other wing spot due to experience and the fact he can be very good on his day. Albert showed promise though. Schiller too is a great prospect.gangrenous wrote: ↑July 23, 2022, 7:17 pmYou’d be mental dropping Raps while you’re in the hunt.Billy Walker wrote:For the life of me I don’t understand why we wouldn’t keep picking Hoppa and Schiller. We don’t need to be looking at outside backs for a little while IMO.

But his last 18 months have been super disappointing. So its really good to see him back in FG and showing he's still got something to offer. Really strong couple of weeks for him imo

I’d love a bit more speed on the wings but yes there are options. I do think Rapas erratic, roving role upsets our structure at times. Cotric not offering enough for my liking.President Clinton wrote: ↑July 23, 2022, 7:23 pmRaps has an error or two in him but an X factor for sure. Credit to Guler he has found a bit of form which is great, I’d be dropping Sutton purely because he’s not here next year and looking the the future, great problem to have especially with Mooney and Rushton outBotman wrote: ↑July 23, 2022, 7:24 pmAlways been a Guler fanGreen Machine 2011 wrote: ↑July 23, 2022, 5:24 pm Man Guler has surprised me. Same goes with the backline really, if all fully fit you have HSS, Schiller and Hoppa all playing reserve grade and Asomua looks like he could be knocking the door down with another pre season under his belt.

It's hard to make these calls when you're still trying to chase a finals spot... but i agree, Sutton and Elliott are playing good footy but we arent doing **** this year, i'd rather give those minutes to others myself
But that's a tough thing to balance when you're dealing with actual people and a dressing room who knows who the best players are and who should be playing

Re: 2022 Rd 20 V Titans: Teams and Previews
Cotric has been underwhelming at times this season, but when he is on - which seemed to be the case before his injury - he is very effective. A big metre eating winger with tackle busting ability. I don’t think Rapana upsetting our structure at times is a bad thing, considering how pedestrian it can be.Billy Walker wrote: ↑July 23, 2022, 7:35 pmI’d love a bit more speed on the wings but yes there are options. If I’m Wighton, Tapine or Papa there is no way I want to be named captain.
It’s a curse!
Whitehead- named captain and now stinks
Hodgo - Named captain and then nothing but injuries and to make matters even worse the poor bastard has been signed by Parra.
Croker - Had an injury free career until named captain.
Campo - Was the Raiders best player in a long time. Gets made captain and then Ricky Stuart had to put him down in the car park.

Unfortunately CHN’s defence or discipline isn’t up to the mark either. He’s at best a bench player. If Whitehead were dropped, and I think he should be, CHN shouldn’t be starting.

Re: 2022 Rd 20 V Titans: Teams and Previews
It’s all a moot point because Stick isn’t dropping him.
Horse in for Sutton my only change.
Use CHN a little different and give him more minutes (starting back end of first half), similar to when Starling is brought on “against tiring defences”. I could live with that.
1. Xavier Savage
2. Nick Cotric
3. Matthew Timoko
4. Sebastian Kris
5. Albert Hopoate
6. Jack Wighton
7. Jamal Fogarty
8. Josh Papalii
9. Zac Woolford
10. Joseph Tapine
11. Hudson Young
12. Elliot Whitehead
13. Adam Elliot
14. Tom Starling
15. Emre Guler
16. Corey Harawira-Naera
17. Corey Horsburgh

Re: 2022 Rd 20 V Titans: Teams and Previews
Unfortunately there aren't any other 2nd rowers in the entire squad. And we can't suggest moving Elliott unless Mooney is fit and firing imo.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.
Re: 2022 Rd 20 V Titans: Teams and Previews
Raiders are on 20 Competition points along with the Chooks, Manly and Dragons. The Chooks play Manly next round so one of those sides will not add any competition points, unless a draw happens. Our opportunity is to beat the Titans and leapfrog at least one of them. The Dragons also have a tough match coming up against the Cowboys. The team needs the two competition points on offer from the Titans match.
I am a HorsPower fan but I don't know the type of virus he has had or how much energy he will have first game back. Perhaps a warm up game in reggies to see how he goes would be best. Sticky will be reluctant to change a winning side and while Sutton does not show any offloading threat, he will take the tough runs into the teeth of the opposition defensive line. Guler has shown 2019 type form recently so I would be persisting with him too.

Re: 2022 Rd 20 V Titans: Teams and Previews
Hard disagree
Chn not only should start, but at this point not doing so is doing a great disservice to the team. Given the players at our disposal, not starting him and giving him serious minutes is completely indefensible for a team trying to win
It’s not even debatable in my mind. Anyone who’s watched the games and can’t see it is telling on themselves

The right side looked really good when CHN was on. He needs to start. I also liked the combination between him and Fogarty. A right side of Fogarty, CHN, Timoko and Cotric (although I think he and Rapana should swap) can be threatening

Re: 2022 Rd 20 V Titans: Teams and Previews
Horse has been playing well, he needs to come back and offers more than Sutton with the ball at this stage. His fitness is better. Sutton's attack is limited with always a mistake in him but his defence against the Storm was outstanding. Guler wasn't outstanding but his form is better than the beginning of the year.Seiffert82 wrote: ↑July 24, 2022, 8:55 am Good to see Guler pull his finger out this week. Out of the forwards, on performances alone, and over a longer period of the season, I think Whitehead needs to be 18th man or dropped. Ricky had no problem dropping Fensom. Didn't think I would say this at the start of the year but Adam Elliott must be a certain starter.
Re: 2022 Rd 20 V Titans: Teams and Previews
like it or not.....and I dont like it, Whitehead will be named in 17 for this match
Re: 2022 Rd 20 V Titans: Teams and Previews
Of course he will
And sadly he’ll be a liability every week. I’ve been a huge EW fan since he arrived
I think he’s one the best and more underrated players of this period, it really saddens me to see him go out like this
Re: 2022 Rd 20 V Titans: Teams and Previews
I agree, Love the bloke, he loves the Raiders but he is simply past his time, I think 2020 was his last good year, he has no impact attack or defence, his starting 13 days are well and truly over, but it wont happen.
