They have Hymel Hunt who is also a plodder. Tuala out plods him though. Edrick been injured so expect he'll be straight back in when right. He's actually been quite good for them considering he started on a train and trial deal.zim wrote: ↑August 16, 2022, 12:38 pmLooking at their roster I think the Tuala issue is injuries and lack of choice.Northern Raider wrote: ↑August 16, 2022, 11:12 amTheir backline was a shambles with those two in. I think we knock Penrith off the top if Ricky had just listened to usHong Kong Raider wrote:We have a bit of depth now in the backs - Hoppa, Schiller and Cotric fighting it out for one wing spot.
Kris, Timoko and HSS (next year) in the centres. Some observers think Morkos is good as well.
Savage looking more and more comfortable at FB.
We should never have played Semi Valemi for 8 weeks at centre or CNK at fullback to begin with. Who knows how our season would have panned out if Savage started at FB.

Ata Mariota last week in NSW cup: a try, two linebreaks, four tackle busts, 219 running metes and 26 tackles with zero misses. Pretty handy for a 20 year old middle.

The Canberra Raiders have named their team for the round 23 match against the Newcastle Knights at Hunter Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Joe Tapine has been named to return from a rib injury which sidelined him from last weekend’s match against the Dragons. With Tapine’s inclusion Emre Guler moves back to the interchange bench and Ryan Sutton moves into the extended squad. Nick Cotric has also been named in the starting side after missing last week’s match through suspension. He replaces Albert Hopoate on the wing with Hopoate moving to 18th man.

Ryan Sutton misses out…
I missed our last game, not sure how he went but I’d have him in front of Guler

Funny because it's true
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

I'd say Sutton dropped because he is going to the dogs next year..... Only reason why you would have him behind Guler
Perth Based Raiders Fan
Re: 2022 Rd 23 V Knights: Teams and Previews
One of his better games of the year probably. I would say "typical Sutton" with enthusiastic defence- rewarded in his effort plays by a charge down try. He made steady yards most runs and even managed to break a tackle or two (rare). Dropped one cold. Team had identified pressuring Hunts kicking game so the charge down would be well received by coaches I would have thought.
Maybe there was a clanger in defence I missed somewhere.
Re: 2022 Rd 23 V Knights: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
Yeah that's probably the case, but it's still an dumb decision IMO considering we're still in the hunt to make the top 8, we need to win every game and still have luck go our way, and his output is about 10x better than Guler. And he scored the winning try for us last game. I'd understand if Mariota or another junior got a start instead, but not Guler.PerthRaider86 wrote: ↑August 16, 2022, 4:30 pmI'd say Sutton dropped because he is going to the dogs next year..... Joe Tapine and Nick Cotric back, Raider explains new name pronunciation
The Canberra Raiders will be bolstered by the return of two experienced players in Joe Tapine and Nick Cotric as well as coach Ricky Stuart for their must-win game against the Knights in Newcastle on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile Cotric has explained why he's gone back to the incorrect pronounciation of his surname.
"It's actually 'Chotch-rich' but some people get it wrong, so I'll just keep it at 'Kot-rick' for now," he said. "It's just easier that way so I just want to keep it to that. I think it's just been too hard for people to pronounce.

I hope the Raiders players are honed for an 80 minute effort against Newcastle to get the 2 competition points on offer. The Saifiti brothers and Gagai are recent Origin level and Frizell looked ok to me on the weekend. While I am looking for a Raiders victory, as I do every week, this will need the Raiders to show up for the full match.
We saw against the Dragons how soft between the ears the side can be. A good lead squandered with some poor plays. Short kick offs from half way squandering field position, grubbers kicked too hard going dead by miles, bombs kicked with only minutes left on the clock when an angled grubber or take the tackle 5 meters from the opponents line were better options. Maybe we need Cappy as the onfield trainer to talk to the halves just as Langer does for the Broncos.

Knights are garbage. No Ponga. Milford's lost his running game. We don't even need to show up the full match to win. Although being the Raiders, it's still a lose-able game somehow...RedRaider wrote: ↑August 16, 2022, 5:16 pm I hope the Raiders players are honed for an 80 minute effort against Newcastle to get the 2 competition points on offer. Guler over Sutton is a bit odd (but understandable given Sutton is leaving).
However I'd have Mooney or Mariota in over both of them. Hands down.
