Can’t see Bateman being a game changer. Perhaps a negative. Koroisau and Papali’i more likely game changers.

Decent forward pack. Ordinary in the backs. I doubt they’ll get the spoon again but they won’t make the eight

That's as good a Tigers forward pack as I've seen in a long time.

Luke Brooks remains the big problem. I can't believe they didn't shift him to the Knights when they had the chance. At the VERY least to give themselves the opportunity to verse him and score an easy win!

Koroisau is a big in too. His service will allow those forwards to take advantage. If Brooks can't shine with this set up then they have to finally admit defeat with him and move on.

Biggest weakness is the coach
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Api Koroisau to captain Wests Tigers

A year after the disastrous appointment of five captains, the Wests Tigers have once again determined that the job is best served by one man. That man in 2023 will be new recruit Api Koroisau, who was named team captain at the club’s season launch on Monday night.

Remarkably, his appointment comes only a matter of months ago Tigers fans were left fuming when he poked fun at the club and his imminent move while celebrating Penrith’s grand final win.

Wests Tigers statement

The Wests Tigers club is delighted to announce Apisai Koroisau has been appointed team captain for 2023. The announcement was made at Wests Tigers official season launch on the waterfront at Iron Cove, where more than 300 VIP guests had the chance to mingle with their team.

The three-time NRL premiership-winner has enjoyed his first few months at his new club and is thrilled to become the team’s leader.

“To be asked to lead this team in my first year at the club, means a lot,” said Koroisau.

"From the moment I joined this club, my family and I have been made to feel so welcome.

“It’s been a great start to my time as a Wests Tigers player and I look forward to helping this team and this club be the best it can be."

Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens says Koroisau is a natural leader.

“We have several very capable leaders in this team, and Api is one of them,” said Sheens.

“I congratulate him on earning the role.”

Adam Doueihi extends his stay at Wests Tigers to end 2024

Adam Doueihi has extended his contract with the Wests Tigers through until the end of the 2024 season. The new deal will see the highly talented five-eighth enter a fifth season at the club in 2024, after joining Wests Tigers at the start of 2020.

Doueihi was limited to just 11 NRL appearances in 2022 after returning mid-season from an ACL injury but is now injury free and excited about the season ahead.

‘Regretful’ Tigers announce ANZAC jersey backflip after blunder, backlash

The Tigers have announced they will be redesigning their 2023 commemorative jersey “immediately” after using a stock image of American soldiers instead of Australian or Kiwi troops. The jersey was designed to be worn during the Tigers’ Round 8 ANZAC Round clash against the Sea Eagles — but was met with heavy criticism.

Eagle-eyed fans on social media spotted the blunder and pointed out the soldiers were in fact American based on their uniforms and weaponry.

Wests Tigers club statement

Wests Tigers remain as committed as ever to making this year’s ANZAC Round match in Round 8 against Manly Sea Eagles a respectful and special occasion.

The Commemorative Jersey to be worn by our players for this match has been criticised because an image on the jersey does not accurately depict Australian or New Zealand troops.

As a club Wests Tigers is deeply sorry if the use of this image has in any way offended anyone. This was never our intention, and we are taking steps to rectify this.

We have taken on board feedback from our members and fans, and we will be redesigning our 2023 Commemorative Jersey, immediately.

Wests Tigers deeply regret any offence the use of this stock image may have caused and remains completely committed to honouring and respecting all those servicemen and women who have, and who continue, to serve.

The redesigned 2023 Commemorative Jersey will be worn by our team in Round 8.

These jerseys will then be auctioned after the match, with all proceeds going to our ANZAC Round matchday charity partner, Legacy.

Wests Tigers would like our members and supporters to know that, as a club, we will continue to embrace the ANZAC spirit, this year and in years to come.

As I recall, it was the same thing with a Raiders ANZAC jersey in the past and it was picked up on social media, but never pursued by the mainstream media.

I just find it amusing that when it comes to the Raiders you're happy to blame absolutely everyone but the coach, have never ONCE said a single negative thing about him, but then you come waltzing into this thread and say "biggest weakness is the coach."

In context, Sheens has stunk it up for well over a decade.

Has been sacked 3 times in 10 years, including a 2nd division English team.

In that time, we have made the GF, made preliminary GFs, made the semis.

Yet you continually look at Bellamy. A guy who won comps with a roster well in breach of the cap. Who was blessed with Slater and Smith.

15 other clubs didn't have that.

Yet you lambast Ricky because it's the convenient option.

Wests Tigers abandon five-year plan inside 12 months with Sheens to stand down as coach

The Wests Tigers’ five-year plan is not going to plan. Tigers coach Tim Sheens is reportedly set to stand aside at the end of the season and hand the reins to Benji Marshall 12 months earlier than planned.

The Tigers board have made the call to move Sheens into an ambassador role after concerns were raised by key stakeholders over the direction of the club.
