Interesting that Stick also brought up the performance of the NSW Cup side during the post game press conference.
Would love to know what issue/s he is putting both those performances down to. To me this suggests there is a larger issue at the club or a disrupted preparation (Rapana milestone game?).

Re: 2024 Canberra Raiders NSW Cup
I think it was more lapses from some non top 30 guys that cost them in the end. Most of the individual players in line for first grade wouldn't have done themselves much harm. I don't see what Ricky sees though.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Weekes might have done an ACL here.
EDIT: Ok, he's back in the line-up. Was a non-contact injury and he went down like a tonne of bricks.

Re: 2024 Canberra Raiders NSW Cup
Cook with 3 try assists. Two incredible cut-out passes to Jed Stuart. I know it's only NSW Cup but geez he is looking like a legitimate half prospect.
Re: 2024 Canberra Raiders NSW Cup
Cook sure can attack. Think
he is a bit erratic for first grade but he is great to watch.

I thought he looked our best half in the trial matches. I definitely think there's something there worth persisting with.IBG wrote:Cook with 3 try assists. Two incredible cut-out passes to Jed Stuart. I know it's only NSW Cup but geez he is looking like a legitimate half prospect.

As far as the footy goes, they started him in more of a lock role with Hola starting and Puru off the bench. Trying to get long minutes into him I suspect. Some solid metres and good in defence, but not high volume hitups.
Cotric looking pretty ordinary on both sides of the ball, sloppy hitups and dropping off tackles. Woolford decent delivery and looking reasonably sharp.
Not too many chances for Stewart with the ball, but he looks solid fielding bombs under pressure.

He's definitely dominating the ball in attack. Would like to see more opportunities for Weekes and Stewart on the right.Dusty wrote:I thought he looked our best half in the trial matches. 45th min PENALTY EELS The Raiders have a player on report for a trip. It gets the Eels to their own 30 metre line.

50th min TRY RAIDERS to Michael Asomua out wide. Nice shift to the right, the Eels raced up early in defence and that provided space. Adam Cook misses the conversion, again.

Terrible pass out of dummy half (germ?) leads to that try. Had the defence staggered.

Re: 2024 Canberra Raiders NSW Cup
Raiders turn over the ball again deep in attack. Forward pass to Puru.
Parramatta are a very physical team. Hard to believe they are without a win.
Sanders has a decent boot, just not a great deal of help out of dummy half.

58th min TRY RAIDERS to Adam Cook, he started it and finished it. But he can’t kick a conversion…
Raiders 20-6
And now the Eels kick off is out on the full over the dead ball line.

62nd min TRY RAIDERS to Michael Asomua in the corner. The Woolford pass sets it up, hint of a forward pass about it. Let’s see if Adam Cook can convert from the sideline… no.
